I am a second-year doctoral student in the Y-SED Lab at Yonsei University. My research interests lie in understanding the development of pro- and anti-social behaviors and moral behaviors in early years, and how these behaviors grow and change through life. More specifically, I am interested in the emotional(e.g., sympathy, shame, guilt), cognitive(e.g., theory of mind, moral judgment) and contextual(e.g., parent-child relationship, peer relationships) influences on the developmental processes.

김연진 (Yeonjin Kim)아동가족학과 석사수료
I received Bachelor of Arts degrees in Child Psychology and Communication Studies from the University of Minnesota. I’m interested in the early environment and social/emotional development, particularly, how early life experiences (such as stress and adversity) and risk factors play roles in later developmental outcomes. Additionally, I’d like to understand protective factors and individual differences underlying resilience. By working with Dr. Song at the Yonsei Social Emotional Development Lab, I hope to expand my research interest and understanding of knowledge.

최소영 (So-young Choi)아동가족학과 석사과정
I dream for every child to grow up as an adult who is loved and has a healthy body and mind as much as possible. There are a lot of people in the world who are only grown up but still have young kids in their hearts. To become an adult with a healthy body and mind, I believe that the role of the family, especially the parents is important. It is because the family is the first society and the biggest world that everybody encounters.
Therefore I am very interested in how parenting style affects children's social and emotional development. And I also have a huge interest in parents education, children's self-esteem, and child abuse prevention. I am looking forward to learning a lot by conducting related research in this lab. |
김희영 (Hee young Kim) 아동가족학과 석사수료
I’ve long pondered what can I do for the benefit of all mankind. So I entered the graduate school of Child and Family Studies with a strong belief and pride that this major is necessary to make a better world. Our society is made up of people with various backgrounds, personalities, and thoughts. Diversity creates synergy, but it also excludes and discriminates against each other. That aspect has become more prevailed in recent years. To make a better world, I believe the pre-conditions are embracing each other's identity and living in harmony with pro-social behavior beyond refusal. Therefore, my research interests vary in pro-social behavior, multiculturalism, developmental psychology, resilience and child education. Among them, I’m interested in whether the early pro-sociality of life affects the psychological adaptation of Koreans in the multicultural Korean society. I hope the research at ERD Lab will help children, their parents, teachers, and the world.

I have received Bachelor of Arts degree in comparative literature and culture and Bachelor of Science in child and family studies at Yonsei University. My current interest is in child’s emotion development and regulation. I believe that appropriate emotion development and regulation are very crucial while living in a society in which we interact with various people. It can heavily affect one’s social relationship. Therefore, I hope to develop my interest in this research area into a more specific question of inter-generational transmission of emotion regulation strategies.

송해민 (Haemin Song)아동가족학과 석사과정
After majoring in early childhood education and working as a kindergarten teacher, I had the opportunity to work with children of various personalities and issues. It was during this time that I encountered a child who struggled to recognize and appropriately express negative emotions. This experience sparked my interest in studying the emotional development of children and the impact of the caregiving environment on their emotional development.
As a result, I joined a research laboratory with a professor and other teachers who shared my interest in this field. This is because it was my desire to conduct research on the emotional development of children. The laboratory is actively engaged in research on the emotional development of children, and I am excited to be a part of this community of experts, collaborating and sharing knowledge as we all continue to grow in this area. |

I am a second-year undergraduate in the Department of Child and Family Studies at Yonsei University. At first, I wanted to go to this department to know what kind of person I was and why I became this person. I believed that there was a hint in childhood to find the answer. And now, I am curious about the thoughts, feelings, and minds of children other than me. When I see children sitting alone on the swing, I want to talk to them. I want to help children grow into adults who are not lonely and who love themselves. I hope to know more about the children's various emotions and have more specialized field of interest about child development through this internship.
